November 2017 - Snapped Productions has closed its doors! Thank you to all of the wonderful collaborators, artists and donors who made Snapped Productions such a positive, progressive and creative force in NYC theater for 8 years.

History

Snapped Productions, LLC was a theatrical production company in New York City from 2009 - 2017.  It was founded by actors Jon Dalin and Tina Ward Alvarez as a vehicle to promote the work of emerging actors and theater artists, helping them to gain the necessary experience to launch them into the world of professional entertainment.  Snapped created work that supported the upward careers of collaborators, was culturally diverse and relevant, and realized personal and community expression.

Vision
Storytelling is a vital part of being human.  Through its aspiration, we learn empathy, compassion and ethics.  Through its inspiration, we share histories and build communities.  Through its imagination, we enact change and move forward on the continuum of humanity. Snapped Productions' projects are affordable for all audiences without sacrificing production quality, professionalism, reverence to the writers, responsibility to the story, and respect for the artists.

Franklin was written by internationally produced and award-winning playwright, Josh Billig.  It was workshopped with the playwright over a two-year period at Larry Singer Studios in NYC and was Snapped's inaugural production.

Much Ado About Nothing (2013)
Much Ado was produced after two-years of structuring and fundraising to bring Snapped into a full theatrical production company. The production was named "best pick" of 3 professional renditions of the play going on at the same time (including on Broadway) for its simplicity, multi-cultural cast and targeted Harlem audience.

Dividing Lines (2014-2015)
Dividing Lines was another collaborative project with playwright Josh Billig.  The actors and director worked creatively with Billig over two years developing characters and story through improvisation and workshopping.

One (2015)
One1 was a collection of one-act plays produced in benefit for Access Theater and Snapped Productions in support of downtown theater.  Original plays by Josh Billig, John Rengstorff and Shawn Love were present in repertory.

HurlyBurly (2016)
Artistic Director Jon Dalin made is directorial debut in David Rabe's coke filled classic.  The production was an audience favorite and received media praise.
